Best Green Cars to Buy

Let's face it, there are dozens of vehicles out there that claim to be green and literally hundreds more that can easily fit into that category, but which one is best for your wallet, the environment, and your lifestyle?

 

I have tried to answer these questions by taking the most fuel efficient cars available today and compiling them into the following categories: Best Overall MPG, Best New Cars, Best Older Cars, Best Unpretentious Green Vehicles,  Best Green Cars for Fun, and Top Electric Vehicles.

While I am well aware that mpg is just one of many things people consider when they go to purchase a car, the follow vehicles are the best in terms of MPG. Now keep in mind this isn't some poorly researched top ten list you see on the web everyday. I spent hours doing brand by brand comparisons, thoroughly reading pages and pages of government reviews, and organizing them in such a way that anyone, regardless of income, social status, age, or occupation, can find a vehicle that best suits them.

  4. Honda Civic Hybrid

Most Efficient New Cars- shiny, clean, and straight from the factory
  1. Toyota Prius
  2. Honda Insight (2010)
  3. Honda Civic Hybrid
  4. VW TDI Passat, Jetta, and Golf
  5. Ford Fiesta
  6. Audi A3 TDI
Most Efficient Old(er) Cars- cheap to buy and cheap to own. your wallet thanks you
